AMMONIUM BI FLOURIDE
Ammonium Bifluoride is a white crystalline solid that is also commonly found in solution. It is used as a sterilizer, in electroplating, and in the ceramic and glass industries. Ammonium Bifluoride is on the Hazardous Substance List because it is regulated by OSHA and cited by ACGIH, DOT, NIOSH and EPA.
Ammonium bifluoride (ABF) is used for cleaning and etching of metals before they are further processed. It is used as an oil well acidifier and in the etching of glass or cleaning of brick and ceramics. It may also be used for pH adjustment in industrial textile processing or laundries.
